Max Homa opened up about his favorite hole at the WM Phoenix Open. The American golfer is playing this week at the PGA Tour event, which started with its first round on Thursday, Feb. 5.
After the second round, he secured a spot in the top 20 and talked about his performance in the post-round press conference on Friday. He was asked about the golf course and what he would personally prefer to watch in golf. In response, he said he would go and watch the game on the 16th.

“If you just want to watch golf you go to the front nine,” he said. “If you’re asking me I would go to 16.”

When asked for what, he hilariously added, “to drink.”

This week, the WM Phoenix Open is being played at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course. Hole 16 of the venue is a par-3, 168-yard hole.
Homa has made par in the last two rounds this week on the hole. Notably, this week’s event was suspended due to darkness on Friday, and a few players are yet to complete the game.
Ryo Hisatsune has taken the lead in the game after Friday’s game. He settled with a score of 11 under, followed by Hideki Matsuyama, who settled in second place.

Max Homa Opens Up About His Performance at the WM Phoenix Open

Max Homa started his game at the WM Phoenix Open with the opening round on Thursday. He teed it up on the first tee hole and made two birdies on the front nine, while on the back nine, he added a bogey and a birdie for a 2-under 69.
In the second round on Friday, he started on the tenth hole and carded two birdies on the front nine and then added three birdies and two bogeys on the back nine for a 3-under 68. He talked about his second-round game in the post-round press conference.

“A little sloppy,” he said. “I came in this week hitting it really well, and I don’t know, just was a little out of sequence I think. But pretty happy with just like the totality of the game. Nothing was too special. Did a really good job. Hit enough good shots to make birdies and enough good short game shots to save par. Just kind of like where I’m at going into the weekend as far as how the golf game feels.”

Max Homa has previously played at the American Express and Farmers Insurance Open last month before playing this week at the WM Phoenix Open. He had a tough time last season but in 2026 started with a solid T27 finish at the American Express, where he carded four rounds of 66, 69, 68, and 68. He then played at the Farmers Insurance Open but missed the cut after playing two rounds of 75 and 70.
