Rickie Fowler is back with his long hair this year. He is playing this week at the WM Phoenix Open 2026 and had a decent start to his game.
After the second round of the event, held on Friday, Feb. 6, he talked about his performance. He was also asked about his long hair. Fowler has been known for his long hair. He said:
“I don’t know. I mean, I still get it cut here and there. It hasn’t been short for a while, yeah.”
When asked about a reason, he said that there is “no reason,” but then explained that he has kept them growing after his second daughter, Nellie, was born.
“I think basically since Nelly was born I just kept it going,” Fowler said. “I think we might have about the same length. I might still have her. She’s going to catch up soon.”
The second round of the 2026 WM Phoenix Open was suspended on Friday due to darkness. The play will resume on Saturday at 10:15 a.m. ET, followed by the third round, which is expected to start at 11:30 a.m. ET.
Meanwhile, after the Friday game, Ryo Hisatsune jumped 13 spots on the leaderboard to take the lead in the game at 11-under. He carded a round of 63 on Friday.
Rickie Fowler talks about his game at the WM Phoenix Open
Rickie Fowler had a tough start to his game at the WM Phoenix Open. He started the game on Thursday with an opening round of 71. He made three bogeys and three birdies on Thursday, and then on Friday, he carded five birdies and a double bogey for a 3-under 68.
He jumped 18 spots on the leaderboard and tied for 37th place. He talked about his performance in the post-round press conference. He said:
“You’re obviously trying to hit a good shot or make the putt when you have a chance, but when there is that many people around it’s a little more satisfying. Like I said, still the same goal as if there is no one around. Yeah, to hear that noise, there is very few tournaments that really get to the same volume as a few holes out here.”
Rickie Fowler had started his 2026 PGA Tour season at the American Express. He started his game at the event with an opening round of 67 and then carded the next round of 63. He played the final two rounds of 71 and 68 and was tied for 18th place.
This week, he had a good start, and it would be interesting to see how things will unfold for him. The WM Phoenix Open will have its finale on Sunday, February 8.
