Lee Westwood is currently away from LIV Golf due to a wrist injury, and recently, he commented on the ongoing PGA Tour debate about The Players Championship. There have been whispers all around the golf industry that Brian Rolapp, the current CEO of the PGA, may be planning to make The Players a fifth golf major to take place in the United States. Interestingly, Brandel Chamblee has stated that he believes this tournament is not just a golf major but superior to all four golf majors.

According to an X post from Golf Central, the 63-year-old reporter stated,

“The Players, to me, stands alone and above the other four major championships as not just a major, it is in my estimation, the best major.”

Lee Westwood reacted to this on his X account, making a sarcastic comment about Chamblee. The LIV Golfer stated that he is concerned about the reporter since he is not well, and something has happened to him. In his X post, Westwood also suggested that someone check on Chamblee to see what had happened to him. The post reads,

“I’m worried about Brandel. Someone check on him please.”

Apart from this, Westwood is also one of the golfers who believes The Players Championship should not be another golf major tournament, which will be taking place in the United States. He has also floated the idea of a major tournament that would rotate across the world. In response to an X post, Westwood explained everything in his post, which read,

“Another major in the US is just what golf needs. 🤦🏽‍♂️ But as a test run, ask Rolapp to invite the top 15 off Liv to play in this years players. Let me know how that goes. If anything, the PGA should be rotated around the world and played in the US once every 4 years.”

Lee Westwood is also sidelines of the LIV Golf tournament for the time being, although his return is expected soon.

Westwood announced this on his X account, confirming that he will miss two tournaments: LIV Golf Riyadh and LIV Golf Adelaide.

In his X post, the golfer also confirmed that he will return to Hong Kong to play his first LIV Golf tournament in 2026. A little part of the X post said,

“Disappointingly, I sustained an injury to my wrist whilst practicing in preparation for the first event of the season. Thankfully, it’s nothing too serious; however, I’ve been advised to manage my rep count over the coming weeks. Therefore, I’ll unfortunately be missing this months liv golf events in Riyadh and Adelaide. I look forward to starting my season in Hong Kong and wish Majesticks golf club all the best under the lights & down under!”
