LIV Golf Hong Kong, the third event of the new season, is set to tee off on Thursday, March 5. The event returning to Hong Kong Golf Club for the third consecutive time will see the stacked player field compete for the usual $20 million prize purse with the winner bagging $4 million. The champion team will split a whopping $3 million over their individual earnings.
For the unversed, several LIV Golfers had a tough start to the week as they got stranded in the Middle East because of airport closures following strikes by the U.S. and Israel in Iran just days ahead of the tournament. Interestingly, the players including the likes of Lee Westwood, Laurie Canter, Sam Horsfield, Adrian Meronk, Thomas Detry, Caleb Surratt, Tom McKibbin and Anirban Lahiri, have since found their way to Hong Kong.
The players will join their teammates and rivals to compete for the $30 million on offer. It is pertinent to note that the top prize purse has remained the same despite the Saudi-backed series’ recent switch to 72-hole four-day match format. Notably, the 2025 edition of the Hong Kong contest was won by Sergio Garcia. The Spaniard claimed the individual title and a $4 million winner’s share of the $20 million individual purse. His Fireballs GC side also won the team competition, earning $3 million from the $5 million team prize purse.
