Joel Dahmen humorously took a jibe at himself while talking about Justin Rose. For the third round of the Farmers Insurance Open 2026, held on Saturday, Rose and Dahmen played in the same group.
On the seventh hole of the South Course at Torrey Pines, Rose made a birdie while Dahmen settled for a par. In the post-round press conference, the American golfer opened up about his performance and the shot.
“It’s really impressive,” Dahmen said. “He’s — to still have the drive with the career
that he’s had is very impressive. I know he’s got — he puts a lot of work into his body.“His ability to still grind and practice and spend the time on it when he’s got everything you could want is really impressive honestly. It’s almost inspiring for me, I’m seven years younger than him, I’m getting outdrove than 30 yards. I’ve got to get in a little better shape to hang out with Justin,” he added.
Joel Dahmen Opens Up About His Performance at the Farmers Insurance Open
Joel Dahmen started his game at the Farmers Insurance Open with an opening round of 70. He carded the next round of 63 to settle in third place, followed by another round of 68. He settled in solo second place after Saturday’s round and talked about his performance in the post-round press conference.
“That’s so good, Doug,” Dahmen said. “I am very pleased with how I played today. You know, there’s maybe a few opportunities earlier in the round, you’ve got to get after that front nine if you want to make some birdies. But the back nine I played really well.
“My only bogey, I hit it in a divot there, which is just kind of a bad break. But to birdie 16 was an incredible golf shot for me and then a nice wedge on 18. So I can’t really play a whole lot better and Justin’s really good at golf right now,” he added.
It’s the second event of the season for Dahmen on the PGA Tour. Before this, he competed at the American Express, where he carded four rounds of 69, 66, 67, and 70 and finished tied for 38th. Justin Rose has also played at the American Express, but he struggled with his game and missed the cut after playing three rounds of 72, 63, and 73.
