Fans on social media reacted to reports that LIV Golf is selling its team stakes. The Saudi league is preparing for its new season, and ahead of that, Bloomberg News had reported that the league is looking to sell minority stakes in its teams and is seeking a valuation of $300 million. The league has also brought in Citigroup Inc. to oversee the process.
Nuclr Golf shared the news on its X (formerly Twitter) account with a caption:
“#JUST IN — The LIV Golf League is looking to sell minority stakes in multiple teams and is seeking $300M valuations. They have hired Citigroup for the process, per @business. How much do you feel a LIV franchise is worth?”

Fans jumped to the comments section to react to it.

    “It’s cooked,” a fan wrote.

“A LIV franchise is worth maybe 20 bucks. That league is done. Just wrap it up and let all the LIV guys come back to the Tour,” a fan added.

“Nothing. It’s a ponzi scheme at this point if they’re trying to get investors when they’re backed by PIF,” another fan added.

    Here are more fans’ reactions:

“Just not a smart move,” one more fan said.

“PGA was always going to win, players went to get their bag and are now coming back to play real golf,” a fan added.
“It would be pretty cool to own a team and then try to recruit your favorite golfers to make a team…,” a fan said.

4 Aces star Patrick Reed leaves LIV Golf ahead of the 2026 season

Ahead of the start of the new season of LIV Golf, there have been several changes in the league. 4Aces GC member Patrick Reed has left the Saudi league to rejoin the PGA Tour. The American golfer released a statement about his exit from the Saudi league on Wednesday on Instagram.
“I’m a traditionalist at heart, and I was born to play on the PGA TOUR, which is where my story began with my wife, Justine. I am very fortunate for the opportunities that have come my way and grateful for the life we have created. I am moving forward in my career, and I look forward to competing on the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour. I can’t wait to get back out there and revisit some of the best places on earth,” he wrote.

He has applied to reinstate his membership for the 2027 PGA Tour season as a past winner on the circuit. He won nine tournaments on the tour before joining LIV Golf.
Reed is eligible to play on the tour on Aug. 25 and is likely to play in the FedEx Cup Fall season events. Moreover, the American golfer can also earn his tour card through the Race to Dubai standings.
He currently sits in second place in the standings, and if he maintains a position in the top 10 at the end of the season, he can earn the card for the 2027 PGA Tour season. Moreover, if he wins a fall season event on the PGA Tour, he can regain his card.
