The PGA Tour is in Torrey Pines this weekend for the 2026 edition of the Farmers Insurance Open. The circuit, which traveled to Southern California last week with The American Express, continues its competition in the area on Thursday, January 29. The event will see several big-name golfers including event’s defending champion Harris English tee it up.

Notably, Jason Day has topped the PGA Tour power rankings list for the Farmers Insurance Open. Coming off a tie for second at The American Express, the Aussie golfer is expected to make big moves at Torrey Pines, where he has recorded two victories and seven top-10 finishes in the past. The 38-year-old is followed by Ryan Gerard in the rankings, who was runner-up in each of his last three starts dating back to the Mauritius Open in December.

While Gerard tries to improve on his T15 finish from the Farmers Insurance Open 2025, he will face some competition from event’s favorite Xander Schauffele. Owing to Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler’s absence, the two-time major champion is the event’s highest-rated player. The World No.6 golfer arrives at Torrey Pines on the back of three top 10s in his last five appearances, including the US Open.

Hideki Matsuyama, who won the Hero World Challenge to finish 2025, started off 2026 with a T13 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. The Japanese golfer sits fourth on the power rankings after managing five top 20s at the Farmers. He is followed by Chris Gotterup, Taylor Pendrith and J.J. Spaun among others.

It is pertinent to note that Brooks Koepka, making his second PGA Tour debut after a mutual parting with LIV last month, is not among the favorites at Torrey Pines.
