Bryson DeChambeau has been in red hot form for the past couple of weeks. He secured his first win of the 2026 season at the LIV Golf Singapore and is currently competing in the LIV Golf South Africa. After 36 holes, DeChambeau leads the field by two strokes with a total score of 14 under par. Interestingly the first golf major of the season, the Masters, is right around the corner, and with his current form DeChambeau might pose a real danger at Augusta National.
During a recent interview, the Crushers GC captain discussed his form and performance, claiming that LIV has played an important role in getting him ready for the season’s first golf major. Bryson DeChambeau noted that LIV allows him to play on a variety of golf courses across the world, teaching him how to adjust. He emphasized that he is prepared to face everything, including major competitions such as the Open Championship and the Masters.
According to Flushing It Golf, DeChambeau stated,
“I think playing on different grasses, playing on different surfaces, going from the most fast greens in the world last week to greens that are normal this week and championship style greens, you know, it’s just something that we have to adapt to. I think learning to adapt in different places has helped me become a better golfer in that regard.”
The golfer went on to add,
“Sometimes we all wish they’d be more consistent, but I also think that adversity is helping me for places like the Open Championship or even the PGA when weather comes in or the Masters if it gets really baked out on Saturday.”
Aside from that, DeChambeau discussed the significance of LIV Golf South Africa in his career and its history.
Bryson DeChambeau indirectly compares LIV Golf South Africa with the golf majors

During the post-round news conference on Friday, Bryson DeChambeau was asked if winning a historically significant tournament like as LIV Golf South Africa is more important to him than winning a major. Interestingly, DeChambeau reacted by stating yes, noting that every tournament that goes down in golf history is important to him.
According to Asap Sports, the golfer stated,
“Yeah, definitely. Last week I never would have thought I’d win on that golf course just with the game that I have and how difficult it is off the tee, how tight it is. There’s so much history at Sentosa. Coming here to South Africa for the first time, having a chance to compete for that individual title and team title to win here for the first time, you know, ever coming here, would be really special.”
DeChambeau then went on to talk about all the great players from South Africa stating,
“There’s a lot of great players that have some from South Africa, whether it’s the Southern Guards, all of them, or Ernie Els, Gary Player, you name it. There’s a bunch of others, as well. So it would be cool for my first time coming here to achieve that, but there’s 36 more holes, right? But it would be quite the honor, yeah.”
Round 3 can be crucial for Bryson DeChambeau as from there on he can secure his potentially second consecutive win on the LIV circuit this season.
