Filipino golfer Miguel Tabuena has become the first reserve player for the LIV Golf 2026 season. The Saudi-backed league is gearing up for the start of its new season next week in Riyadh. Ahead of that, 4 Aces GC member Patrick Reed has left the circuit to return to play on the PGA Tour.
The Saudi league has now signed Asian Tour winner Miguel Tabuena. He previously narrowly missed out on an opportunity to join LIV Golf after he settled in third place in the International Series standings. Only the top two in the standings earn spots in the Saudi league, and for this year, Scott Vincent and Yosuke Asaji joined the league.
However, finally, Tabuena is also looking forward to playing in the Saudi league. He enjoyed a pretty successful time playing on the Asian Tour.
Last year in October, he won the International Series Philippines, registering a three-stroke win over Hoga Kazuki and Asaji. He played the four rounds of 69, 65, 65, and 65.
However, despite the win, he missed the chance for the qualification for LIV Golf 2026 back then and opened up about it. He said:
“It stings quite a bit. I was in a good position the first five holes. I thought it would be better much than this. I gave myself a chance and there was a chance until the last hole, and that’s all I can ask for.”

Luckily, things changed for him in 2026, and he is preparing to play.

Miguel Tabuena Shares His Excitement for LIV Golf

Miguel Tabuena has released a heartfelt message on his Instagram account after securing his LIV Golf spot as a reserve player. He expressed his gratitude to the Saudi league and reflected on his excitement to play in the Riyadh event.
“Extremely grateful to receive a call from LIV Golf to be a reserve player for some events this 2026 season. To be clear, am I guaranteed to tee it up? No. Will I be ready if they call? Absolutely. While I will not compete next week in Manila, I am grateful for the opportunity to be on-site for LIV Golf Riyadh and wherever else the season may take me.”

The new LIV Golf season is gearing up for the start with a new format and some new additions to the league. Brooks Koepka has exited the league, while they have signed Byeong Hun An for the upcoming season. Another Kim made his way back to LIV Golf through a promotion event.
