Brooks Koepka’s return to the PGA Tour this week has been met with quiet support from his wife, Jena Sims who shared a short but meaningful message as he teed it up at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Sims took to Instagram on January 29 and posted a family photo from the 2024 Masters Par 3 Contest. The image showed Koepka crouching beside their son, Crew, as both pointed ahead on the golf course, while Sims stood beside them.

She added a simple caption to the picture that read “Onwards, Dada.”

Koepka is back on the PGA Tour after nearly four years away competing on LIV Golf. The five-time major champion ended his contract with the Saudi-backed league earlier than planned, saying family played a major role in the decision.

He later explained that the thought of returning began around the Ryder Cup in September following personal challenges at home.

“I’m not going to get into too much detail about the family issues that we’ve had but yeah I believe it was September right around the Ryder Cup week we had to be in New York we were up there for a little bit,” Koepka said.

“Circumstances kind of changed in my family a little bit. Then that’s when I guess things started to change and evolve and just started to have those conversations of what’s best for my family. So we took it from there.”

Sims had previously shared that she suffered a miscarriage last year.

Koepka officially parted ways with LIV Golf on December 23. His PGA Tour return was confirmed on January 12 through the new Returning Member Program which includes a $5 million charity payment along with other financial conditions linked to the Tour’s equity system.

While Brooks Koepka has spoken about wanting to spend more time with his family, his attorney and longtime advisor Bryan Freedman recently shared more detail about what pushed the move away from LIV Golf.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Freedman said the heavy travel schedule on LIV played a big role in Koepka’s decision.

“Brooks has felt over the years that the travel being so intense and so international that it kept him away from his family, and I think as time went on, he longed to spend more time with his family and be closer to the U.S.,” Freedman said.

LIV’s global calendar, which included stops in places like Australia and Singapore, made it difficult for Koepka to maintain the family balance he wanted.

Freedman also addressed talk that Koepka had second thoughts about joining the Saudi-backed league, saying the choice to leave was more personal than professional.

“It had very little to do with golf and much to do about family. Maybe all athletes are like this, right? Happy life, happy home, You can excel as an athlete in your best form. That’s the key, is to make sure that he’s happy and he’s comfortable,” he added.

Now back on the PGA Tour, Koepka is set for his first regular Tour start in over three years. He will also be able to use his winner’s exemption through the 2028 season following his 2023 PGA Championship victory.
