Anthony Kim slammed the haters after securing his spot in LIV Golf 2026. The American golfer, who was relegated from the Saudi league last season, paved his way back to the series through the LIV Golf Promotions event. He settled in solo third place in the four-day event at 5-under and earned a card for LIV Golf for the upcoming season.
In the post-round press conference, Kim was asked about the highlight of his career so far. In response, he said that he did not have any “highlights yet” but is “working” on it, and also talked about the negative comments from people. He said:
“I wouldn’t say there’s any highlights yet. I’m working on those. But the world we live in, there’s so many negative people out there. Unfortunately I love hearing all the negativity. But I’m glad I get to throw this in their face.”
Notably, the top three in the LIV Golf Promotions after the Sunday round have secured their spots in the league for the upcoming season, which will start next month. Anthony Kim, as he had played in the LIV Golf series last season, was eligible to play in the second round of the event.
He carded a 69 on Friday to secure his spot in the top 20 and advance to the final two rounds. He was just two strokes behind the leader after Saturday’s round, and on Sunday, with a round of 69, he settled in solo third place. Richard T. Lee won the event, and Bjorn Hellgren settled in second place.
Anthony Kim eyes winning a tournament
Anthony Kim had a remarkable start to his career when he turned pro in 2006. He won three tournaments on the PGA Tour before 2010. However, he suffered an injury in 2012 and, since then, had been away from the field until he returned to play on LIV Golf as a wildcard in 2024.
He had two tough seasons in the league after his return and was relegated last year before re-entering the league after the LIV Golf Promotions event.
Kim now has his eyes on winning a tournament. In the post-round press conference on Sunday, he talked about the highlight he had in mind for his “comeback.” He said (via ASAP Sports):
“Winning golf tournaments. That’s what I’m here to do. That’s why I’m practicing. I’ve said it a million times; I wouldn’t be here practicing, trying to get 1 percent better every day, to finish third or finish 10th. That’s not my goal. Who knows if I’ll get there. But that’s my mindset. I’m a competitor. I have a very blessed life with my family.”
Anthony Kim last won a tournament in 2010 at the Shell Houston Open. He also won the Wachovia Championship in 2008 and the AT&T National in 2008.
