Girard Pringle Jr. Transfer Portal: Top 5 Potential Landing Spots For Miami’s RB

Girard Pringle Jr. has announced his decision to transfer out of the University of Miami. While he filled in at times for an injured Mark Fletcher Jr. in 2025 and managed to break through as a legitimate threat in the backfield (375 yards and four touchdowns), his playing time got reduced in the postseason. Mario Cristobal prioritized Marty Brown over him as an RB2 in the College Football Playoff, possibly signaling that Pringle Jr. wouldn’t be his man moving forward.

Now, the four-star recruit from the class of 2025, who was the eighth-best running back prospect that year, is looking for a new home. Here are some options.

Top 5 Potential Landing Spots For Girard Pringle Jr.

    #5 UCF Knight

If Pringle Jr. has a desire to stay in the Sunshine State, look out for the UFC Knights as a dark horse destination for Miami’s three-star running back. While a definite downgrade in terms of sheer national exposure, the Knights remain a solid Power Four destination at which he could see considerably more playing time than he ever did at Miami.

    #4 Georgia Bulldogs

The SEC Georgia Bulldogs are a run-heavy team that is always on the search for talent in the backfield. The change from Miami to Georgia could even be seen as a rise in exposure for the running back, with Kirby Smart’s team always being in the mix for an SEC title and a national championship run, but he would face stiff competition. The Bulldogs already have Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens. Is he really getting out of Miami to go face even tougher competition?

    #3 Florida Gators

The Gators offer the benefit of staying in Florida while moving to the more highly publicized SEC. While they do have an outstanding running back in Jadan Baugh, they don’t have an established RB2 spot, which is where Girard Pringle Jr. could enter the equation. The Gators are also a team in the middle of a rebuild process under Alex Golesh, which could be a hindrance if it doesn’t pan out well, but could also present Pringle Jr. with more chances to get into the starting lineup week in and week out.

    #2 USC Trojans

The Trojans have had to adapt since entering the Big Ten. West Coast offenses have been historically pass-heavy, while their new conference is historically known for its run-heavy offenses. Lincoln Riley seems to be trying to strike a middle ground. He has managed to retain USC’s top two rushers, King Miller and Waymond Jordan, but a third player in the backfield wouldn’t hurt them in a conference known for its defensive programs and attrition. Could Pringle Jr. be that player? Probably, he could even challenge for the RB2 spot.

    #1 Alabama Crimson Tide

This is the program that fits Girard Pringle Jr. the most, because they’re in dire need of a new running back. Their top rusher, Jam Miller, is out of college eligibility years, and his performance wasn’t the best in 2025. No Alabama player ran for more than 504 yards last year, which is nowhere near enough for an SEC team. The Crimson Tide could be everything for Pringle Jr. A chance to start, NIL money, more national exposure, and a chance to challenge for the College Football Playoff and SEC titles.
