Lane Kiffin became one of the most controversial college football coaches since he made the decision to ditch Ole Miss during one of their best playoffs run in the 2025 college football season and took the job as the LSU Tigers’ new head coach.
Kiffin has now been working on rebuilding the Tigers after their disappointing 7-6 season and has onboarded a new star as their quarterback in Sam Leavitt, who was previously playing for the Arizona State Sun Devils.
On Tuesday, Kiffin spoke to the media and revealed that Leavitt might miss the rest of the spring practice because of a surgery he had on Monday for the removal of pins from his previous surgery for Lisfranc injury.
Kiffin confirmed that he isn’t worried about Leavitt missing the practices and used Trinidad Chambliss, who joined the Rebels in the summer last year, as an example of excellence.
Fans didn’t take too kindly to the news and criticized Kiffin.
“I hope Ole Miss kicks LSU’s a** next season-Kiffin has always been a fraud-He’s never won it all anywhere-He’s been fired for his BS plenty of times. He’s gonna get fired again you watch,” one fan reacted.
“LSU fans have been drinking this Kool-aid that Leavitt is going to be good next season,” another fan wrote.
“I thought it always was pretty clear that he would miss spring. That’s why the staff focused on bringing in 2 quality back ups just in case he still isn’t ready come fall. That and your backups might turn out to be the better QBs anyway,” another fan shared their thoughts.
“My brother in Christ, Sam Leavitt isn’t anywhere near the same level as Trinidad,” another fan said.
“Dude acting like he wasn’t close to starting Austin Simmons again,” another fan added.
”It was to have the damn screws removed and it’s been known the procedure was going to happen and when. Kills me how the press constantly tries to make something out of nothing,” another fan said.
Paul Finebaum Bluntly Trolls Lane Kiffin with Shocking Alabama Revelation
Lane Kiffin faced Paul Finebaum’s wrath earlier on Wednesday when the SEC analyst made a bold revelation about the LSU head coach during the time of Alabama searching for a new head coach.
Finebaum said that he believes Kiffin would’ve crawled to Tuscaloosa if the opportunity presented himself, unlike Dan Lanning, who took his name out of the running despite being the favorite “within 10 seconds of Nick Saban’s retirement announcement.
“By the next day, he was out of it because Dan landing didn’t want the job. The guy that did want the job was Lane Kiffin,” Finebaum said.
Finebaum then said Kiffin called everybody he could call to get his foot in the door but predicted that Greg Byrne and probably Nick Saban didn’t entertain the idea.
