The college football and video game world are set to collide once again this summer. With the re-release of EA Sports College Football video game title, fans are quick to draw the line between this year’s game and the last iteration of the title, 11 years prior.
In those 11 years, a lot has changed to college football and there are a bevy of new teams that you will be able to play with.
EA Sports College Football 25: New Teams in This Year’s Game
The last time EA released a college football video game was 2013. The aptly-titled NCAA 14 was a hit and has become an even bigger cult classic since the shutdown of the title in 2014.
Through NCAA Revamped, fans of multiple universities that were not represented in the game that year have been able to get a small glimpse of what life would be like with their favorite university. But until this season’s release of the game, their favorite university was not actually in the game.
With the FBS promotion of several schools since EA’s last release, the following teams will now be represented in the game:
- Appalachian State Mountaineers
- Charlotte 49ers
- Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
- Georgia Southern Eagles
- Jacksonville State Gamecocks
- James Madison Dukes
- Kennesaw State Owls
- Liberty Flames
- Sam Houston Bearkats
With a handful of new Sun Belt teams (App State, Coastal, JMU, Georgia Southern) and nearly half of the Conference USA (Jacksonville State, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Sam Houston), the Group of Five is well represented on the national stage in the game.
Conversely, a specific fanbase won’t see their favorite team once again in the re-release. That, of course, is from the Kibbie Dome itself as the only school that was in NCAA 14 but is now not in the game:
- Idaho Vandals
The game is set to be released this summer and each team in the game should have a full set of creative supporting their inclusion. That includes realistic uniforms, stadiums, and rosters now that over 10,000 athletes have opted-in to the game.
