EA Sports College Football 25: How Quinn Ewers, Donovan Edwards, and Travis Hunter Became the Faces of the Franchise

The official EA Sports College Football 25 Standard Edition cover athletes: Colorado's Travis Hunter, Texas' Quinn Ewers, and Michigan's Donovan Edwards.

The full reveal of EA Sports College Football 25 drops tomorrow, but the official release date was announced: July 19. Fans can pre-order one of three editions today and secure their access to one of the most anticipated video games of all time.

Each of the editions has its own cover, with Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter, Texas QB Quinn Ewers, and Michigan RB Donovan Edwards donning the base copy.

On the Deluxe Edition of the game, several other players can be seen with their names on their jerseys: Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins, Alabama QB Jalen Milroe, and Georgia QB Carson Beck. Additionally, leading the athletes onto the field are flags for Ohio State, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame, Nebraska, and Auburn.

Nevertheless, among the thousands of college football players, it isn’t difficult to understand why EA Sports chose Hunter, Ewers, and Edwards as its cover athletes.

Hunter is a true two-way player, excelling at both WR and CB, and is expected to hear his name called in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Ewers took a massive leap in Year 2 as the starter for the Longhorns, leading the program to a College Football Playoff berth.

And Edwards is the new lead back for the national championship-winning Wolverines, flashing his game-altering skill set the last two seasons.

“Donovan, Quinn, and Travis are extraordinary talents who impressed and entertained millions of college football fans on the field last season and are poised to do so again this year,” said EA Sports’ Daryl Holt in a press release.

“We’re proud to be able to incorporate thousands of current athletes in College Football 25, and featuring this trio of playmakers and their iconic college programs on the cover is a perfect fit as we usher in a new era for EA SPORTS and college football. I can’t wait for the world to learn more about the game tomorrow.”

Edwards struggled to reach the potential he showcased as he stepped up for an injured Blake Corum in 2021, but he did become the first player in CFP history with two 40+ yard rushing touchdowns in the title bout.

“EA SPORTS games are legendary, and to see myself on the cover of College Football 25 is truly surreal,” said Edwards. “It’s a huge honor to join past Michigan greats as a cover athlete on an EA SPORTS college football game and keep the tradition going.”

Meanwhile, Ewers returns as one of the best QBs in the nation, completing nearly 70% of his passes for 3,479 yards and 22 TDs to just six INTs.

“To represent the burnt orange on the real and virtual gridirons is such an honor,” Ewers explained. “EA SPORTS games were the first place I lived out my childhood dream of playing for the Longhorns, so it’s a full-circle moment to now be on the cover of College Football 25.”

Last but not least, Hunter is arguably the most exciting player to watch in the country. Period. Don’t believe me? He is the only FBS player in two decades to record 100 receiving yards and an INT in the same game. EA Sports College Football 25 will certainly enjoy utilizing his skill set on both sides of the ball this summer.

“I couldn’t be more pumped to be part of College Football 25 and represent my Buffaloes on the cover of a game with so much excitement behind it,” said Hunter. “I can’t wait to play and see myself, my teammates, and my school in the game.”
