“Do Your Kids Know You Lie?”: Deion Sanders Doesn’t Hold Back On NIL Rumors About Colorado Football

Deion Sanders enjoyed being the focal point of the football world when he, Shedeur and Shilo shared the same team. However, despite his kids moving on to other pursuits, Sanders has stayed behind to chase the same goal he had when he was with his children: winning. In the NIL era, that strategy often comes with a financial cost, but Sanders was accused of being cheap with his players.

Sanders vehemently rejected one accusation from satirical account Shane Tuttle on Tuesday. Tuttle had allegedly posted an accusation that freshmen on Sanders’ team were ineligible to make money. Sanders was blunt.

“Do your kids know you lie for recreational purposes and for the pure sport of it. 🙏🏾💯,” he posted.

Tuttle’s alleged post contained allegations that Sanders was directly responsible for the program not paying its athletes.

“Deion Sanders has implemented a new policy prohibiting Colorado freshmen from earning NIL money until their sophomore year,” Tuttle posted.

“‘Making money from this sports is a privilege. If you’re playing on my team, you have to earn that,'” Tuttle’s post added, claiming the quote to be from Sanders.

Of course, as a satirical account, Tuttle’s “report” was a joking jab at Sanders, but the coach didn’t find it funny. Instead, he tried to guilt the account into changing its behavior.

Deion Sanders Under Pressure to Reverse Alarming Turn of Events

Deion Sanders seemed to be on the rise in 2024 after following up his debut 4-8 season with a 9-4 turnaround. However, 2025 saw a brutal downturn in which Sanders finished with a 3-9 record. With the 2026 season around the corner, Sanders is under more pressure than ever to hit the ground running.

Another disappointing season could be all it takes to show the program that he has potentially run out of gas, and the program would then feel its own pressure to pivot away from Sanders.

While the former cornerback, MLB player and current college coach may have a future in sports beyond the Colorado Buffaloes, questions are on the rise as to whether the next chapter is on the horizon. Sanders can quiet hecklers like Tuttle and doubters with a breakout season, but does he have another one in him?
