As bad as the attempted alliteration is for a title, the work of College Football’s Creators are the complete opposite. Every school employs a distinct creative department with a seemingly never-ending wealth of talent, ideas, and designs.
With those talented individuals come an entire suite of designs aimed to promote their school, players (current, past, and prospective), and coaches, as well as tickle their fans’ fancies in new ways every year. As such, with so much talent and creativity out there, we figured we’d track the creators and give you the best of what they’ve produced this season.
Creative Corner: Week 1 Sees Brilliance Across the Country
The Week 1 slate features the entire cast of college football characters, so buckle up.
Air Force Falcons
The Air Force creative team had a little fun with their Week 1 opponent, crafting Robert Morris’ mascot on a jetway, underneath menacing aircraft adorned with the Blue and White of the Falcons.
Appalachian State Mountaineers
The stunningly brilliant ‘Rock is Ready’ image got us all wanting to head to Boone. Their trailer for Week 1 got us wanting to scream our heads off.
Boston College Eagles
Credit to the Boston College Eagles staff for getting us to watch this fun way to check out their helmet for the weekend.
BYU Cougars
Few are more classical, and few do it better than the BYU staff. That would explain why looking at GAME NOTES is so enticing for your eyes.
Cincinnati Bearcats
The Cincinnati Bearcats staff gets on our list of top Week 1 creations just for using a fun take on a famed Eminem song.
Charlotte 49ers
The Charlotte 49ers creative suite includes a celebration of 10 years as a program and eyes them returning to the field after pillaging for some gold.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers
The Chants are known for their beautiful graphics — and we could list a bevy of them. But shout out specifically for their Cali-themed ‘Straight Outta Conway’ t-shirt designs for their trip to UCLA.
ECU Pirates
What a clever take on a uniform reveal. The ECU Pirates swirled their uniform combinations around in a beautifully dizzying array for their Week 1 reveal. Job well done.
FIU Panthers
This is a special shout-out to the entire FIU Panthers staff from the creative side of things — and that goes to their field crew, who is scheduled to paint the field differently for every game this season.
Florida State Seminoles
The Florida State Seminoles creative team certainly knows how to treat the senses — noticeably when a video simply of a person placing a Tomahawk sticker has us all eagerly anticipating their uniform combo for Week 1. Their creative suite for the 2023 season is elegant and beautiful.
Fresno State Bulldogs
Heading into the Week 1 matchup, the Fresno State creative team put together a great theme-oriented slate of graphics. Fresno State’s team highlighting the Boilermakers’ namesake from over 100 years ago.
Georgia Bulldogs
Oh, how we love this retro feel to a game ticket for Georgia’s Game 1 poster.
Houston Cougars
The Houston Cougars won the uniform reveal for 2023 with their Houston Oilers-themed uniforms and their whole package around it. It doesn’t get much better than this.
JMU Dukes
Like BYU above, the JMU Dukes creative staff gave us a compelling look at Bridgeforth Stadium how-tos and game-day plans in a creative suite that was unrivaled this week.
Liberty Flames
There are no promises that you won’t be a Jamey Chadwell and Liberty Flames fan once you watch their Week 1 promo. The new era begins for the Flames with Chadwell in charge but the same creative flare we’ve come to know and love Liberty for has returned.
Maryland Terrapins
Polaroids are all the rage and the Terps did a great job of featuring their players in some candid stills. All of these images are unique and invoke a certain nostalgia in all of us.
Memphis Tigers
The Memphis Tigers open their season against Bethune-Cookman, debuting their season with the aptly-named “901 Game.” Memphis’ area code and the date in which they revealed the weekend’s uniforms, summed up with some creative photography.
Northern Illinois Huskies
The Northern Illinois Huskies creative team had some fun with their hosts for Week 1. The Huskies are indeed coming to Massachusets, and they called themselves the Mean Monsters on top of Boston’s famed Fenway Park.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Stadium shots in 360-degree cameras don’t get much better than what the Notre Dame Fighting Irish team put together. Simply stunning.
Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks have some of the nation’s best uniform combinations and certainly one of the best creative departments. Aren’t you jazzed to watch Bo Nix and the Ducks play just by looking at this promo?
Oregon State Beavers
Absolutely stunning. Clean and brilliant. The Oregon State Beavers staff put out treat after treat for your eyes this week.
Penn State Nittany Lions
The Penn State Nittany Lions creative team is second to none at what they do. And that includes giving their head coach a promotional video that may as well already put them at 1-0 for the season.
Pittsburgh Panthers
Always fun to have the cats vs. dogs debate. But when you’re a Pittsburgh Panther playing against a Terrier, the victor in that debate is clear. Well done.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
Pandemonium in Piscataway returns as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights host Northwestern in Week 1. How can you NOT love this sport when you watch what the Rutgers’ staff put together.
SMU Mustangs
Kudos to the whole SMU Mustangs creative team and marketing staff. Detailing the illustrious (and sometimes dark) history of the program in a candid, yet thrilling way ahead of their Week 1 outing, this was a masterclass of how to incite your fanbase.
TCU Horned Frogs
They hypnotoads are back and their graphics game is as good as they were last season when they left everyone in awe. Their college colors day image literally pops off the screen, or should I say hops.
Texas State Bobcats
The “Take Back Texas” hashtag has taken off, almost quite literally, for the Texas State Bobcats. After detailing their conference-leading recruiting class in dramatic fashion, the Bobcats shared photos from what looked like their pregame intro.
Troy Trojans
Graphics can instill emotions in viewers, and the Troy staff hit us with ‘fear,’ as in what you should do when you see this image, and see this Trojans’ defense.
USF Bulls
The USF Bulls are going with the icy-white jersey combination but the stills they shared from their behind-the-scenes photo shoot give you an indication at just how terrific the whole team of creative geniuses are down there in the Bay.
Utah State Aggies
From their uniform-reveal video to their terrific stills that include some crafty black-and-white work, the Utah State Aggies put a spin and a nice touch on the white-out kick this week.
UTEP Miners
The Miners brought it back to the 80s with their theme night in El Paso. Their ‘Miner Magic‘ creation is the thing we 80s and 90s kids dream of. Oh, and they treated us with some terrific stills from their team’s intro.
Virginia Cavaliers
The Virginia Cavaliers program had to undergo the worst tragedy for a program in recent memory to close our their 2022 season. That stemmed to the creative department for sure. Now, as they look to honor their fallen teammates and kick off their 2023 season, the #UVAStrong promo video for 2023 invokes more than a few emotions.
