Top 3 Landing Spots For Cole Payton at 2026 NFL Draft

    #1. New York Jets

The Jets finished the 2025 season with a dismal 3-14 record in what was Aaron Glenn’s first year as coach. However, it appears that Justin Fields might not have a future at the franchise after Jets owner Woody Johnson appeared to throw the QB under the bus in October.

Since New York plans to continue with Glenn as its coach, his game plan of using a dual-threat quarterback is likely to persist in the 2026 season. Given that Cole Payton can run with the ball, he could be an ideal pick for the Jets in this year’s Draft.

    #2. Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins are expected to part ways with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in the offseason. While the Dolphins have confirmed that Jeff Hafley will coach the team next season, there is some uncertainty about who will lead the team’s offense at quarterback.

Miami is reportedly aiming to bring in a QB at this year’s draft, and Payton might be an option. The Dolphins have the No. 11 pick in the first round, and it will be interesting to see if they use it for Payton.

    #3. Las Vegas Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders hold the No. 1 pick in this year’s NFL Draft. They are strongly linked with taking Fernando Mendoza as the top selection.

However, the Raiders might also look to bring in a second QB at the franchise in the Draft to potentially serve as Mendoza’s backup. Payton could likely be that option for the team, and he could use that opportunity to ease himself and acclimate to the pro league.
