Bret Bielema Left Red-Faced as he Responds to Alleged Tampering Allegations by Jeremiyah Love’s Dad

Illinois head coach Bret Bielema just got baited by a tweet, reading that Georgia tampered and made a lucrative offer to Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. The tweet also involved a video where Love’s father, Jason, can be seen talking to the reporters.

Jason said no such thing as the tweet from username Hurricane Jay mentioned. All Love said that they turned down seven-figure money to remain with the Fighting Irish. There was no mention of Georgia.

“In hindsight I see all the benchmarks that led us to this place, to this position,” Jason Love. “So it was never we going to the NFL. When he chose to go to Notre Dame he turned down, he turned down a lot of money. We turned down seven figures, bro. And he was like, ‘Hey, I’m going to get that. I’m going to earn it anyway.’”

Bielema replied to the tweet, unintentionally assuming it was true. He replied on X:

“Wish they had succeeded… because they came and got ours #famILLy”

It appears Bielema didn’t hear Jason Love’s video and reacted based on what was falsely mentioned in the tweet. And of course we know all about Bielema’s allegations against the Georgia football program in the past.

Bret Bielema Once Accused Georgia of Tampering

Last summer, ahead of the 2025 season, Bret Bielema’s Illinois lost lead running back Josh McCray to the transfer portal. Not long after, he was headed to Kirby Smart’s Georgia. McCray had a massive season in 2024 for Illinois, rushing 609 yards and 10 touchdowns on 117 carries.

It happened so quickly, giving Bielema a reason to believe that Georgia tampered with him and stole him away through the transfer portal.

“We did lose a guy to Georgia,” Bielema said on The Triple Option podcast. “Somehow, he found his way to the portal and 12 hours after being in the portal, he was on a flight to Georgia. I don’t know how that happened, but it’s crazy. Wish Josh all the best. He took advantage of that opportunity.”

It appears Bielema is still reeling from that transfer portal loss and leaves no opportunity to take down Georgia whenever he can.
