The Georgia Bulldogs managed to keep their season alive with a 2-0 victory against the Texas Longhorns at the 2026 Men’s College World Series on Tuesday night. The Longhorns were eliminated while Georgia booked a rematch against Oklahoma with a spot in the MCWS finals still on the line.
Georgia’s pitching shut down Texas’ offense despite the Longhorns exploding for 14 runs against Alabama the other day. Georgia entered a must-win game on Tuesday against Texas after their narrow 4-3 defeat against the Sooners in the winners’ bracket.

This way, once again, the Bulldogs proved to be Texas’ stumbling block on the biggest stage. Georgia fans enjoyed the Texas loss, alright on Reddit.

Georgia Blanks Texas to Keep College World Series Dream Alive
Georgia shut out Texas 2-0 in a tense elimination game at Charles Schwab Field.
Georgia needed two pitchers to complete their shutout. Dylan Vigue tossed four innings, allowing two hits while striking out eight batters. Right-hander Justin Byrd pitched the final five innings, giving up two hits and punched out four.
On offense, Georgia took a 1-0 lead in the fifth inning with Tre Phelps’ RBI double that drove in Brennan Hudson. Rylan Lujo’s flyball was converted into a sac-fly thanks to heads-up baserunning from Ryan Black in the seventh inning for a 2-0 lead. The Georgia hitter earlier survived a controversial catch call.
Texas slugger Adrian Rodriguez, who recorded a cycle and seven-RBI performance against Alabama, was limited to only one hit in four plate appearances by Georgia pitching.
Earlier as well, Georgia defeated Texas 7-1 in the College World Series behind Joey Volchko’s historic 15-strikeout gem. But this contest was far tighter, though the results remained in Georgia’s favor.
