Both teams unveiled their exclusive holiday jerseys, marking a historic year as the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary of independence.
The jerseys showcase the colors of the American flag and are the result of an exclusive collaboration between Nike and Fanatics. These two Subway rivals are the first to reveal their special Fourth of July jerseys, and the images went viral on social media shortly after their release.
Fans were quick to share their opinions about the Mets’ uniform for the special day.
“These are a special kind of ugly,” one fan commented.
“Why did they leave only the New York in red, white, and blue? Makes it look off,” another fan commented.

America’s special 250th-year celebration of independence will extend beyond July 4. On July 13, T-Mobile Home Run Derby participants will once again wear the July 4 jerseys. Meanwhile, the All-Star Game will showcase classic club uniforms featuring the “USA 250” sleeve patch.
