“LSU Vs LSU” – Olivia Dunne Chooses Alma Mater Over Boyfriend Paul Skenes In Blockbuster Clash Vs Alex Bergman

Paul Skenes’ girlfriend, Olivia Dunne, watched from the stands at PNC Park as he started in the series finale against the Chicago Cubs on Thursday night. During the game, she took a photo of the exact moment Cubs 3B Alex Bregman was about to face Skenes on the mound. Both players are former LSU Tigers ballplayers.

Dunne, a former gymnast and NCAA champion with the LSU Tigers, shared the image on her Instagram story with a playful caption mentioning their common alma mater: “LSU vs LSU.”

While the Cubs dominated the Pirates, securing a 7-2 win in the decisive series finale and ending the four-game series at 2-2, Skenes was outstanding on the mound. The 2025 NL Cy Young winner pitched 5.1 innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits and striking out 10 batters.

He recorded seven strikeouts off the first eight hitters he faced during the quality start. However, the relief pitchers and Pittsburgh’s defense couldn’t support Skenes’ excellent effort, as Chicago capitalized on errors and scored steadily over the last four innings to secure the victory.

Paul Skenes Hasn’t Been Immune to Losses This Season

So far, Skenes has been inconsistent in his starts, posting a 6-5 record over 12 games. The 23-year-old from Fullerton has a 2.89 ERA, with 75 strikeouts and a 0.89 WHIP. While his pitching stats aren’t too bad, a lack of quality starts and poor Pirates defense have contributed to his disappointing record this season.

Current trends indicate he is unlikely to be the top contender for the NL Cy Young Award, potentially preventing him from winning the prestigious honor in 2026. Skenes is leading the league in WHIP but currently trails behind in ERA and strikeouts, a pattern that hasn’t been common in the past two years since his major league debut in 2024.

Given the narrow margins in his losses this season, Skenes will strive for a strong start to secure his seventh win of the campaign when he pitches next against the Houston Astros at Daikin Park on Wednesday.
