Cincinnati Reds ace Hunter Greene is set to undergo an elbow procedure. Meanwhile, Corbin Carroll is working hard to get back in action for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Let’s take a look at the latest MLB injury updates.

Hunter Greene Hit With Latest Injury Setback, To Undergo Elbow Surgery

Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds second overall in 2017, Hunter Greene has gone on to live up to the potential the organization saw in him. Having made his big league debut in 2022, Greene has established himself as one of the most exciting young arms in the majors, earning himself All-Star honors in 2024.

However, he continues to struggle with repeated injury setbacks. With the 2026 season right around the corner, it seems the ace is set for another frustrating spell on the sidelines.

On Tuesday, the Reds revealed Hunter Greene would undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his right elbow. He is set to go under the knife on Wednesday in LA, with well-known orthopedic surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache performing the procedure.

Reports claim the return timeline for such a surgery is 14-16 weeks. Reds fans will hope to see Hunter Greene back on the mound at some point in July, granted there are no additional setbacks during rehab.

Corbin Carroll Makes His Cactus League Return, On Track To Be Fit For Opening Day

Right after spring training began, Arizona Diamondbacks fans were hit with extremely concerning news. Star outfielder Corbin Carroll, one of the team’s most influential players, had broken his hamate bone during batting practice, and his opening day status was suddenly cast into major doubt.

However, Carroll has been hard at work behind the scenes. Committed to making a return in Cactus League, to ensure he gets the necessary reps in to be ready for the new season, the two-time All-Star played as a DH on Wednesday.

The way things are looking right now, Carroll remains well on track to be fully fit by the time Opening Day comes around. The Diamondbacks begin the 2026 season on the road, locking horns with NL West rivals, the LA Dodgers, on March 26.
