“Manny Machado Should Retire”;”Disappointing” – Fans Furious at $350,000,000 Padres Star Over Anti-Analytics Outburst

The San Diego Padres player, Manny Machado, recently shared his blunt opinions on heavy reliance on advanced baseball analytics. Following his statement, he faced a huge backlash from fans, who, disappointed with his opinions, asked him to retire.

Machado was last seen in action on June 5, 2026, during his team’s showdown against the New York Mets at Petco Park. In this match, batting third starting at third base, he went 1-for-4 at the plate, which included grounding into a double play. His team eventually faced a 5-0 shutout, suffering their sixth consecutive loss.

Following this game, the $350,000,000 Padres star addressed the media, where he expressed his frustration with the team’s excessive reliance on analytics in modern baseball. Sharing his blunt opinions on too many stats in the sport, he said:

“I just wish we can get the analytics out of the way. I think there’s too many stats out there, too many. Too many stats, way too many numbers. I don’t even know half of the stuff that that that goes up there. I see, I look at the board sometimes and I’m like, man, I even asked some of the guys like, what is WCCVBB, whatever it is, like, what are these names that are being created, you know, I mean, it’s just, it’s just crazy to even keep up with. Weighted expected on base percentage. Is it? Is that what it is? Like why are we creating these stats for, you know, I think that’s the problem with baseball right now,” said Manny Machado.

His opinion garnered a lot of attention from the fans, who were furious with his take on the analysts. One of the fans on X expressed their frustration by asking him to retire:

“He should retire and forfeit his salary if it’s too hard for him.”

Calling his take ‘disappointing,’ another follower wrote:

    “Close-minded and frankly disappointing.”

Taking a dig at the player, one of the users wrote:

    “This is… a bit embarrassing.”

Slamming Machado for his stats, one of the fans tweeted:

“This is something someone with bad stats would say!!! Cmon Manny!”

Manny Machado made his feelings known about Nick Castellanos’ release by the San Diego Padres

After Nick Castellanos was released by the Philadelphia Phillies, the San Diego Padres signed him to a league-minimum contract of $780,000 in February 2026. However, his short 39-game stint fell short of providing the performance the team expected, as he struggled at the plate, hitting just .191 with 4 home runs, 20 RBIs, and a .560 OPS in 115 at-bats.

His performance led to his official release after he was designated for assignment (DFA). Shortly after this, Manny Machado weighed in on the team’s decision during his recent press conference, stating that it was ‘tough’ to hear the news.

“It was tough. I mean, obviously, he was a big part of our team and um you know, he graded he engraded himself pretty well in here with the group of guys that we had. So, um yeah, it’s tough to hear those news,” said Manny Machado.
He further revealed that the news got him and his team, everybody, by surprise.
“I mean, obviously the surprise got you know, the news got everybody by surprise. I don’t really try to put myself in a GM’s shoes and know why they’re doing the decisions. Um, obviously we just care about Nick and what he meant to us in the clubhouse. So, um, yeah, we’re kind of devastated by it.”
