Juan Soto Faces Accusations Of Lying About His Age: All You Need To Know About The Bizarre Complaint Against Mets Star

New York Mets superstar Juan Soto is facing damning allegations of age fraud. This has sparked intrigue among MLB fans as the Mets star is the highest-paid player in the league.

The controversy started after Alberto Cambero, a Venezuelan baseball figure associated with the Carlos Guillén Academy, suggested that Soto, 27, is lying about his age. According to Cambero, Soto could be around 38 years old. This post was made to imply that Soto only has two more years of baseball in him.

However, it’s also important to note that Cambero has been known for his critical remarks about Dominican players.

Cambero has shared no evidence to support his claim. Moreover, Soto has risen to MLB ranks from development pipelines in the Dominican Republic. Therefore, his age and identity have gone through the strictest checks.

Update on Juan Soto’s forearm injury as outfield return looms

Juan Soto is progressing in the forearm injury that has kept him out of the lineup defensively. Soto, who missed many games in April due to a calf injury, has been playing as a designated hitter ever since returning on April 22 against the Minnesota Twins.

Soto talked in length with reporters on Wednesday, sharing that the injury feels similar to 2024 one, where he missed three games before returning to the lineup. At the time, imaging revealed no structural damage. Similarly, even this time, the imaging is clean.

The outfielder said that with the forearm recovering well, he is planning to increase the throwing distance gradually. However, he shared no firm timeline on when one can expect him to guard right field. ESPN’s Jorge Castillo shared Soto’s comments on X:

“Soto said this forearm issue is “similar” to what he had in 2024 when he missed three games with the Yankees. He returned to DH one game before playing in the outfield.”

The Mets are also proceeding with caution regarding Soto’s forearm injury. Manager Carlos Mendoza stated Soto will return to the field soon.

The Mets have had a poor start to the season and Soto’s injury played a major role in it. In 61 plate appearances so far in 2026, Soto has batted .344, hitting three home runs and contributing eight RBIs.
