Harrison Bader reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the San Francisco Giants worth $20.5 million. The deal is pending physical. Bader hit .277 with 17 home runs, 54 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases across the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies in 2025. Meanwhile, for the Giants, Hader’s addition to their outfield is seen as a significant upgrade.
On Tuesday, Hader joined MLB insider Jon Heyman to share details on his San Francisco move this offseason. The outfielder pointed out the familiar faces he’ll play alongside with the Giants, concluding that there couldn’t have been a more perfect fit for him than an opportunity to play in the Bay Area.
“I’ve always wanted to play as many games, have as many at-bats as possible, and be on a winning team,” Bader said. “The Giants could not be a more perfect fit for me. I’m just very excited. You know, I love playing with superstars and a lot of really, really talented players.”
Bader revealed his connection with some key Giants figures such as Matt Chapman, Willy Adames, while acknowledging the massive trade for Rafael Devers that happened last season.
“I came up with Chapman in the Texas League and in pro ball prior to the major leagues, and I played against Willy Adames for a number of years when I was with the Cardinals and he was on the Brewers,” Bader said. “There are just a lot of superstars. You know, obviously Devers was a big acquisition for them last year. It’s a fresh front office. It’s obviously a fresh coaching staff, with some SEC ties and Tony Vitello, and some familiarity with Tingler from when I was with the Twins last year.
“So it’s always good to be in a new place, but having familiar faces, the opportunity, the personnel, the players, it just was a perfect fit. And I’m just really, really happy it worked out because it’s very rare in this game when things work out pretty perfectly. So I’m just very excited.”
Harrison Bader’s Addition Forces Giants to Important Outfield Decision
Harrison Bader is an excellent outfielder in centerfield, having won a Gold Glove there. With his addition, Giants manager Tony Vitello would probably ask long-time Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee to play a corner outfield role.
That means Drew Gilbert and Hoo Lee will both be competing for a starting spot in the right field.
