In a classic SEC showdown, the Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Texas Longhorns to reach the Men’s College World Series semifinals at Charles Schwab Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, on Tuesday. Georgia starter Dylan Vigue and reliever Justin Byrd combined for a dominant nine-inning shutout, securing a 2-0 victory and keeping their tournament hopes alive.
A moment from the game has been circulating on social media. Texas slugger Adrian Rodriguez appeared to taunt Vigue by shaking his head and shrugging after a pitch well inside the batter’s box put the count at 3-0.
A walk seemed certain, but Vigue responded by throwing three strikes, catching Rodriguez off guard each time, and ultimately struck him out. Vigue secured his eighth strikeout in only four innings while allowing just two hits in his start.
Fans were quick to share their reactions to the moment on social media. Some fans accused the batter of taunting.
Others explained what they would have done as a home-plate umpire or as the team’s manager.
Despite the Crucial Win, Georgia Failed to Reach the CWS Finals
The Bulldogs faced the Oklahoma Sooners for a spot in the CWS finals on Wednesday. The Sooners defeated No. 3 Georgia 11-4 and advanced to the final, where they will face No. 5 North Carolina in a best-of-three series to determine the 2026 NCAA national champion.
The championship series begins on Saturday. Game 2 will take place on Sunday, with a potential decider scheduled for Monday.
