Will the Tigers, 6-6 in Hugh Freeze’s first season, keep some of their current rivals as the conference expands? Here’s a look at the 2024 slate.

The first thing noticeable isn’t Alabama remaining on the schedule, or even Oklahoma being added as the Sooners soon make their SEC debut.

It’s the fact the Tigers currently have 11 games finalized and will be in need of a 12th.

Time will tell what the Tigers do to fill the final regular season opening. Still, they already have eight SEC games. Among them is the road trip to Athens, Georgia to face the top dog of the conference and CFB, the Georgia Bulldogs.

MORE: History of the Auburn Tigers

Texas A&M and Ole Miss go from SEC West division foes for Auburn to getting left off the schedule. Traditional division foe, the Arkansas Razorbacks, remain on the Tigers’ gauntlet.

As for the non-conference schedule, Auburn is taking on the California Golden Bears, who they edged 14-10 in Berkeley this year. Cal went from 3-6 to becoming bowl eligible with its 33-7 trouncing of UCLA to end the regular season.

After Cal, Auburn gets two Group of Five opponents enduring current head coaching changes in New Mexico and UL-Monroe.

New for Auburn, though, will be getting used to Oklahoma as a conference foe and not a potential Sugar Bowl opponent. These two traditional powers have had their only two meetings at the New Orleans New Year’s Six bowl game with the last meeting in 2017.

Finally, the annual Iron Bowl against fierce rival Alabama will be played at Bryant Denny Stadium during Thanksgiving weekend.

For the first time since 1991, the SEC will not feature divisions in the conference. The top two teams will square off at the end of the year in the SEC Championship Game to culminate the season. With Oklahoma and Texas in the conference this season, the 2024 campaign truly means more.
