According to the Lansing State Journal, Virginia Tech star Matilda Ekh’s father once accompanied her on an official visit to East Lansing and assisted her in making academic and sports decisions.
Ekh was a well-known figure in Swedish basketball before becoming a star in the NCAA. She captained Sweden’s U18 National Team, which finished fourth in the U18 European Championship, B Division. Her leadership and court talent were evident from the outset, setting the stage for her collegiate career.
Matilda commenced her NCAA career at Michigan State University, where she made an immediate impact. In her sophomore season, she averaged 11.8 points per game and was named an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention. Her ability beyond the arc was impressive, with a 38.5% three-point shooting percentage that ranked her sixth in the Big Ten.
She transferred to Virginia Tech in April 2023, bringing her sharpshooting prowess to the Hokies. Matilda continued to thrive during the 2023-24 season, averaging 10.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 43.9% from the field.
