The UConn Huskies are still alive heading into the Sweet 16. As such, it’s clear that the team is a force to be reckoned with. Of course, those who have kept up with the team all season long are unlikely to be shocked by where the team stands.
However, for those who have not kept up with what’s going on it could be a mystery as to how the team has operated and what the year has been like. Here’s a look at everything you need to know to catch up on the team.
UConn’s Basketball Record Including Playoffs
Between Nov. 4 and March 1, the UConn Huskies did not lose a single game in the regular season. Heading into the first playoff tournament of the year, the team finished a perfect 31-0. Since then, the team has continued to win, amassing five additional wins. In total, the unit is 36-0.
UConn’s Leading Scorers
The team’s dominance can be largely chalked up to a trio of stars who have dominated this season. The top two scorers, Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd, have been a defense’s biggest nightmare.
Per Sports Reference, Strong has scored 18.4 points per game on average, while Fudd has scored 17.8 points. If the defense manages to hold back the duo, Blanca Quiñonez’s 10.4 points per game have come in clutch.
UConn’s Biggest Blowout and Closest Win
UConn’s biggest blowout of the season came against DePaul on Dec. 7, when the program won by a 102-35 margin.
Of course, the team was pushed to the brink a few times, but perhaps no other team challenged UConn more than the Michigan Wolverines on Nov. 21, when UConn won the game by just three points.
UConn’s Upcoming Matchup In Sweet 16
The team’s upcoming contest could be just as tough, with UConn facing off against the fourth-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels on Friday. The game will tip off on Friday at 5 p.m. EST.
Will it be the end of UConn’s sensational run?
