The Kentucky Wildcats have seen a complete turnaround in the last two years with back-to-back March Madness appearances to kick off the Kenny Brooks era. However, it’s not enough for the coach. The team pushed the envelope even further.
According to Talia Goodman of On3 in a report on X on Wednesday, Brooks picked up former WNBA draft pick Ajša Sivka. Sivka was drafted in the 2025 WNBA draft, but found reason to transition to college, and chose Brooks’ program.
“Kentucky signed Ajša Sivka, a 2025 WNBA Draft pick from Slovenia,” Goodman posted.
Sivka was drafted 10th overall by the Chicago Sky, according to the WNBA. She never logged a statistic, which explained her desire to transition to college basketball. However, according to a Wednesday Sporting News report, Sivka could return to the Sky at some point, and the team has every ability to retain her rights.
Kenny Brooks Issues Statement on WNBA Player’s Addition
Coaches don’t always issue statements when teams make moves, but Kenny Brooks made one in this case. The Wednesday announcement by the team of the addition of Ajša Sivka included a message from Brooks.
“I am delighted to welcome Ajša to our program,” Brooks said. Her combination of size and skill will fit into our system seamlessly. Ajša is a tremendous shooter, scorer and playmaker from the wing position and she will add experience to our team. Let’s welcome Ajša to our family!”
Ajša Sivka will join an eclectic group, including players from both sides of the United States, including Lexi Blue from Orlando, Florida and Asia Boone from San Diego, California. The roster also includes an international player in the form of Dominika Paurová from Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic. The team also has Elsa Vadfors, who is from Gavle, Sweden.
