A WNBA reporter went viral on social media after sharing a moment with former UCLA Bruins forward Angela Dugalic. The Washington Mystics drafted her with the No. 9 pick. She averaged 9.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in the 2025-26 NCAA season.
After her pick was announced, Dugalic sat down for a media session, during which a reporter mistakenly referred to her team as the Chicago Sky, leaving the forward visibly flustered.
“Did I get traded to the Sky?” Dugalic asked after nervously looking around.
A clip of the moment was shared on social media, where it amassed more than 100,000 views. Fans flooded the comments section, insinuating that Angela Dugalic had a “heart attack” after hearing the Chicago Sky’s name.
The Sky did end up drafting a player from UCLA, picking guard Gabriela Jaquez at No. 5. Jaquez was instrumental in the Bruins’ NCAA title run, averaging 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. She recorded 21 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the championship game against the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Overall, it was a historic night for the UCLA Bruins as they became the first team in league history to have six players selected in a single draft.
Angela Dugalic joins UCLA teammate Lauren Betts with the Washington Mystics
Angela Dugalic won’t be alone on the Washington Mystics as they also drafted her UCLA teammate, Lauren Betts, with the No. 4 pick. Betts was highly rated in college and was largely projected to be a top-five pick.
She averaged 17.1 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game in her senior year. Betts was also named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2026 NCAA Tournament after averaging 21.0 ppg and 9.3 rpg, shooting 68.8%.
Between Sonia Citron, Georgia Amoore, Kiki Iriafen, and now Angela Dugalic and Lauren Betts, the Mystics boast one of the youngest and most exciting rosters in the WNBA. The team has a total of five top ten picks from the last two drafts.
