Sabrina Ionescu has enjoyed a wildly successful basketball career thus far, but even an elite star like her constantly looks for ways to improve her game. If a viral clip is to be believed, Ionescu has turned to an ancient Chinese art to unlock new layers of her performance in the upcoming WNBA season.

A tweet by the X account Chinese Women’s Hoops Show claims to present footage of Ionescu practicing tai chi at the Temple of Heaven, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Beijing. In the clip, Ionescu supposedly engages in this practice along with a group of young learners.

Though it’s possible that the video clip is not an authentic one, it should be noted that Sabrina Ionescu is indeed in China for a Nike tour that runs till Thursday.

Nevertheless, fans came up with some hilarious reactions to this clip.

“this going triple platinum her first bad game”

“Would’ve been so useful last year”

“Look at the face, so serious”

“Get ready to BECOME chinese buddy”

“I will flag this s*** as ai!!”

“This makes me long for the UCLA Dance again”

After conquering the WNBA mountaintop in 2024, Sabrina Ionescu and the rest of the Liberty were eliminated by the Phoenix Mercury in the first round of last year’s playoffs. No matter what Ionescu is doing to improve her performance, the Liberty will need every ounce of her greatness to become strong playoff contenders once again in 2026.

Sabrina Ionescu Joins Other All-Star Talents on List of Cored WNBA Players

The Liberty, of course, recognizes the tremendous value that Sabrina Ionescu brings to the team. On Monday, it was announced that the team extended a core qualifying offer to the four-time WNBA All-Star.

Ionescu joins a list of top-tier talents that have been “cored” by their respective teams. These players include Napheesa Collier, Kelsey Mitchell, and Allisha Gray.
