WATCH: Sophie Cunningham And DeWanna Bonner in Heated Altercation As Caitlin Clark Leads Fever Win

Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever got the better of the Phoenix Mercury on Monday night. The Fever emerged victorious 86-77 in a game which was seemingly going away from them in the first quarter. However, Clark pulled her socks up and put up another great performance to inspire the win.

There was a rather heated altercation between Sophie Cunningham and DeWanna Bonner in the fourth quarter. Both the players were seen pointing fingers at each other and exchanging words. Teammates and officials had to intervene and separate the two. Referees issued technical fouls to both the players after the incident.

This wasn’t the first time that Cunningham and Bonner have clashed, and they have had multiple fiery altercations in the last two seasons. There is history between the two as they were teammates on the Phoenix Mercury, when Cunningham was a rookie. They became teammates again when both signed for the Indiana Fever in 2025. However, Bonner took a leave of absence after just nine games and eventually requested a trade.

Cunningham was very vocal on how she felt about how the veteran handled her exit. She had publicly criticized Bonner about her lack of communication with the team.

Caitlin Clark receives technical foul for peculiar reason

Clark received her fifth technical foul of the season against Phoenix. Once again DeWanna Bonner was involved. Clark was whistled for a personal foul on Bonner.

After the foul was called, she enthusiastically clapped and exchanged some words with the Phoenix veteran. The officials noticed that and deemed the action worthy of a technical foul. These type of run-ins have been a common feature of the Clark’s season so far. Her previous technicals were also due to verbal or sometimes physical altercations.

Despite the foul, Caitlin Clark had a pretty impressive outing yet again. She scored 24 points with three rebounds and nine assists. Monique Billings  had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Kelsey Mitchell also contributed with 22 points.
