“Sue Bird Was Mad”: Fever Fans React To WNBA Legend’s Unflinching Reaction To Caitlin Clark’s Game-Winner Vs Mystics

On Monday, Caitlin Clark hit one of her signature logo threes to seal the latest win for the Indiana Fever. As impressive as this clutch shot was, fans couldn’t help but notice that a certain studio analyst didn’t look too enthusiastic when it went down.

A viral clip posted by NBC shows analysts Sue Bird, Cheryl Miller, and LaChina Robinson watching the dying moments of the Fever-Mystics game. When Clark swishes the deep three, Miller nearly jumps out of her seat, and Robinson cackles in delight. Meanwhile, Bird smiles but otherwise registers little excitement.

On social media, fans piled on Bird for the reaction she displayed.

“SUE BIRD WAS MAD. SHE COULDN’T WAIT TO GIGGLE ABOUT IT WITH SOME OPP WHILE READING THINK PIECES TOMORROW,” another fan speculated.

“Respectfully you can’t tell me that Sue Bird isn’t a hater lmfao,” one fan claimed.

“Sue Bird not in awe.. sitting like a lump on a log, unreactive,” A fan said.

“0 reaction from Dirty Sue Bird. Not Surprised,” that same fan added.

“Sue Birds reaction to CC game winner; she doesn’t even flinch. A hater,” another fan echoed.

For what it’s worth, Bird has offered both praise and criticism for the Fever superstar in the past. On separate occasions, the Basketball Hall of Famer has recognized Clark’s impact on her teammates and pointed out her “moments of frustration” as an “area of growth.”

“That’s Not Okay, Sue”: Caitlin Clark Goes Through Moment of Self-Critique During Post-Game Interview

Interestingly, Caitlin Clark got to converse with Sue Bird right after the Fever defeated the Mystics 78-76.

At one point, Bird brought up Clark’s missed free throws in crunch time that could have cost Indiana the win. As both women smiled, Clark had a moment of self-critique.

“We were just talking about the missed free throws. We’re gonna skip over that…” Bird said.

“No, that was terrible. That’s not okay, Sue,” Clark responded.

Clark added that she took on a “next play” mentality in order to be able to bounce back from her struggles at the charity stripe.
