‘She’s Like Baby Jesus’: Former Super Bowl Champ Makes Bold Caitlin Clark Comment

Caitlin Clark has been a topic of conversation again after the Indiana Fever’s showdown against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday.

The controversy stems from an incident involving Chelsea Gray in which, after the Aces star tried to attack the basket, Clark fell to the ground and appeared to be injured.

In the aftermath of Indiana’s 109-75 win, Clark fans sent racist comments to Gray, which she shared on her Instagram story.

On Tuesday on the “Speakeasy Jax” podcast, host TJ Ward said while he isn’t really a WNBA fan, he has noticed that when Clark’s name comes up, there are racial overtones.

Reacting to Ward, LeSean McCoy defended Clark and said:

“It’s like if Jesus came to play sports, it would be like that. She’s like baby Jesus. All right, real quick. I don’t mind these remarks, right? From the fans, because guess what? In my duration of playing pro football, college football, I’m used to this. If I go to my inbox, I’ll say something about Aaron Rodgers, and you know what? They’ll call me all types of (n-words). This is sports. You got good fans; you got bad fans. You got some racist fans; you got some nonracist fans. But this is what makes the game interesting, because a fan that sits home and watches games is that in tune with Caitlin Clark or different players in the league. You know what I’m saying? So, I hate it, obviously, but being a professional for so long, I’m used to it.”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Disapproves of Caitlin Clark as the Face of the WNBA

Caitlin Clark has done a lot for women’s basketball, be it in college basketball during her time at Iowa or in the WNBA with the Indiana Fever.

However, six-time NBA champion Kareem Abdul-Jabbar spoke about Clark as a potential face of the WNBA and expressed his disapproval of the narrative.

“My first reaction to this letter was to check the calendar and make sure it wasn’t April Fools’ Day. Don’t get me wrong: Clark is a very good, possibly even a great, player. But calling any one player the face of the league, absent the sort of on-court and cross-platform dominance of a Michael Jordan or a LeBron James, is an insult to an awful lot of great players,” Abdul-Jabbar wrote on his Substack.

Clark and the Fever team will face the Valkyries on Wednesday.
