Analyst Tyrone Johnson berated Caitlin Clark after she received her third technical foul of the season against the Chicago Sky. In the third quarter, with the Indiana Fever trailing 56-53, Clark was defended hard by Kamilla Cardoso and Azura Stevens. She believed she got fouled and punched the air, yelling “foul.” Instead, she was hit with a technical.
Clark’s interactions with referees have been a recurring theme of Fever games this season, and Johnson has had enough. On Saturday’s episode of The Craig Carton Show, Johnson said:
“Caitlin Clark is also a villain. She is the most unlikable player, not in the WNBA, but in basketball. Say what you want, Wemby is infinitely more likable than Caitlin Clark, so is everyone else. LeBron James, infinitely more likable. All she does is whine to the refs and complain, and she should already be thrown out of games. I am not saying she is completely talentless; she has a ton of talent, she is not a likable player.”
The Fever went on to win the game 114-106 in overtime. Aliyah Boston led the team with 34 points and 12 rebounds, while Clark contributed 32 points and 10 assists.
Tyrone Johnson earlier compared Caitlin Clark’s rise to Jeremy Lin
Earlier in May, Tyrone Johnson compared Caitlin Clark’s rise to the top of the WNBA to what Jeremy Lin experienced in his career. Lin shot to fame after taking the struggling New York Knicks to the playoffs, sparking a phenomenon known as “Linsanity.” However, that phase quickly died away.
Tyrone Johnson stated that Clark’s run was similar to Lin’s. He said:
“She’s not the best guard in the WNBA! She’s Jeremy Lin! She decided to roll up with Morgan Wallen! This girl had the world by the balls!”
Caitlin Clark’s struggles this season are evident, yet the Fever have managed to stay afloat in rough situations.
