As far as contract situations go, Paige Bueckers and Natasha Cloud couldn’t be any more different. As the first overall pick of the WNBA draft last year, Bueckers’ place in the league is all but guaranteed over the next several years. Cloud, on the other hand, had to endure an uncomfortable wait as a free agent before she was signed by the Chicago Sky just five days before the team’s season-opener.

Though Bueckers and Cloud have yet to play on the same WNBA team, they do have a relationship off the court. On Thursday, Moreau Sports Media posted a quote from the Dallas Wings guard commenting on the latest chapter in the 11-year veteran’s career.

“Me and Tash are, like, really close…I got to grow up watching her play, in the DC area. I’ve just always been a huge fan of her game. Happy that she got this opportunity to play with the Chicago Sky. She deserves it, and there’s a real mutual love and respect there.”

Before Natasha Cloud got signed, there were speculations that her vocal stance on social issues like racism and gun violence had discouraged other WNBA teams from signing her. In any case, Cloud has now joined the Sky and Paige Bueckers couldn’t be prouder.

“Starting to Get a Chemistry”: Paige Bueckers Comments on Wings’ Collective Growth After Defeating Natasha Cloud’s Chicago Sky

On Wednesday, Paige Bueckers and Natasha Cloud weren’t getting chummy with each other as the Wings took on the Sky at Wintrust Arena.

After the Wings defeated the Sky 99-89, Bueckers commented on the growth that she has seen in her team in the early goings of this season.

“We’re starting to get a chemistry with each other. That comes with repetition…We just have a whole ton of playmakers, a whole ton of scorers.”

Bueckers finished with 24 points, three rebounds, and four assists while Cloud had 21 points, eight boards, and five dimes.
