Paige Bueckers made her season debut on the Dallas Wings’ injury report on Wednesday ahead of the team’s home game against the Las Vegas Aces. The Wings have listed the star due to a left leg injury. She’s probable and has a 75% chance of playing.

However, when the news initially emerged and several online aggregators mentioned it as a “leg” injury only, it caused panic among Wings fans.

Three major leg injuries impacted Bueckers in college. In 2021, she underwent surgery on her right ankle to repair damage to bone and cartilage. In 2022, she sustained a tibial plateau fracture and a later meniscus tear to her left knee, forcing her to miss three months after another surgery.

In 2023, Bueckers suffered a torn ACL in the same knee and missed the entire season. She bounced back from those issues, winning a national title in 2025 and going first overall in the WNBA draft.

Bueckers hasn’t suffered any significant injuries since, but the latest report had fans on their toes.

Paige Bueckers wants to play 40 minutes a game

Despite her injury history and heavy workload, Paige Bueckers is willing to play 40 minutes. However, the Wings star understands it’s not possible, as that’s not how the sport works.

“Honestly, I wanna play 40 (minutes) every night, “Bueckers told reporters at Wednesday’s practice (via Jonah Javad on YouTube). “I hate sitting on the bench, but I obviously know that that’s part of basketball and I want my teammates to play too.”

BBueckers is averaging 32.7 minutes per game, the highest on the Dallas Wings. It’s slightly lower than last year, when she logged 33.3 minutes per game. Bueckers is 10th in mpg among all players in the WNBA this season.

The Wings haven’t had much of a compressed schedule, so they haven’t rested Bueckers yet. However, that could change soon, especially with Bueckers on the injury report. The Wings have a relatively easy schedule until June 9th.

However, until June 22nd, they will play seven games in 13 days. The Wings may opt to rest Bueckers for a couple of games, especially if her new leg injury issue persists.
