Caitlin Clark is making her mark on and off the court, as the Indiana Fever guard was revealed as the first solo NBA 2K cover feature for the NBA 2K27 Deluxe Edition. Last year, Angel Reese received the honor for the WNBA edition of NBA 2K26. Conservative sports outlet OutKick reporter Jon Root highlighted that and took a dig at 2K’s decision to allow the Atlanta Dream center before Clark.
Several WNBA players like Candace Parker, A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu and Reese have been on the cover in the past. However, all of those were either featured on regional editions or on WNBA-specific versions. Meanwhile, Clark features on the Deluxe Edition, headlining with NBA stars Victor Wembanyama and Derrick Rose.
Root blasted 2K for preferring Reese over Clark last year and wrote:

Reese and Clark are longtime college and NBA rivals, as their matchups produce intense moments between their teams. Meanwhile, Clark has had a topsy-turvy 2026 season, but her record-shattering 45-point outing has been the highlight.
The up-and-down season hasn’t had any impact on her popularity as the Fever’s Saturday matchup with the New York Liberty raked in record-breaking viewership numbers.

Although Caitlin Clark is gradually settling in this season with some major changes to the team and strategy, the Fever’s viewership numbers have been up there. On Saturday, when the Fever beat the Liberty 108-88, the game became the most-watched game of the season on any network, peaking at three million viewers, according to CBS Sports.
The matchup also became the second-most-watched game in WNBA history on any network. Their last matchup on June 6 was also one of the most-watched games, with 2.557 million compared to the next one with 2.579 million.
Caitlin Clark totaled 17 points and seven assists in the Fever’s victory. Kelsey Mitchell once again led the offense with 33 points, her second consecutive 30-point game.
