There is a new rivalry brewing in town, as Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings defeated the Indiana Fever in their season-opener. The matchup was close, as expected, but two failed game-winners from Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell took the game away from the Fever. A moment from the game has gone viral that included Bueckers and Fever guard-forward Sophie Cunningham.
In the third quarter of the game, when the two teams were matched up equally, 67-67, Bueckers pushed back Cunningham in the paint and lost her in the process to drain a bucket over the Fever SF. Cunningham was on Bueckers whole night but couldn’t stop her enough, as the Wings PG scored 20 points and dished four assists.
Bueckers even hit Cunningham with a ‘too little’ gesture while returning to the defense. The moment was shared by trendingsportspod_ on Instagram, and the caption read:
“TUFF 😮💨🔥”
Fans were excited to see Bueckers dominating Cunningham in the paint, as one referred to the latter as her popular moniker, “MAGA Barbie.” Fans gave her the moniker due to her political lineage, social media activities, and views on social media. The user wrote:
“On the maga barbie”
Another fan expressed their support for Bueckers and wrote:
“My favorite player hands down 👏🔥”

Another praised Bueckers and wrote:
“Just when we thought we couldn’t love PB5 more…”
One more user was behind the Wings guard and wrote:
“That’s my Dawwwg!”

Veteran guard Arike Ogunbowale led the team with 22 points and five assists, and 2026 WNBA top pick Azzi Fudd came off the bench to score three points in 18 minutes.
Paige Bueckers comes up big in the battle of first round picks
The Dallas Wings vs. the Indiana Fever featured four first overall picks: Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Paige Bueckers, and Azzi Fudd. However, Clark’s shooting woes haunted her the entire game. She looked good facilitating the ball with seven assists, but shot just 7-18 from the field.
Although Bueckers and Clark both added 20 points to the tally, Clark struggled in efficiency. While the Wings guard attempted 10 shots to score 20, Clark had 18 FGA. The Wings had four starters in double figures, while the Fever had three. Wings’ bench also contributed more points to the final score.
The Dallas Wings have begun the season with a win against their arch-rivals, a challenging team this season. They will look to extend the momentum in the regular season.
