It has been a rough couple of weeks for WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert as pressure mounts on her and the WNBA in general to do more to stop flagrant fouls on players such as Caitlin Clark. Now it appears that the WNBA chief reportedly received a word from NBA commissioner Adam Silver around the incident.
Sports Business Journal is reporting that Adam Silver was involved in the decision to suspend and fine Alyssa Thomas after her clash with Caitlin Clark came into the limelight, with the incident costing Thomas $1,000. Fans have now spoken out about the alleged involvement of Silver in the incident.
Dan Dakich Calls Out Cathy Engelbert’s Leadership Issues
Insider Dan Dakich recently let loose on the WNBA commissioner, making it clear she was in over her head.
“The fact that you have all of this negativity, and it’s turning the WNBA at the best moment in the history of that league, and it’s all because of Caitlin Clark & you won’t show up & try to straighten this out?,” Dakich said.
With political pressure also rising on Cathy Engelbert, the WNBA commissioner may need to take some strong decisions or risk facing a replacement despite the good work of the past.
