Etan Thomas Deems Caitlin Clark’s Flop ‘Crazy’ After Close Up Review of Chelsea Gray Contact

Former NBA player Etan Thomas shared his thoughts on Caitlin Clark’s moment from the Indiana Fever’s recent win over the Las Vegas Aces, 109-75. While Clark defended Chelsea Gray’s advance to the bucket in the second quarter, the Aces guard was given a foul on the Fever guard. However, Clark seemingly took a deliberate fall, flopping a hit from Gray that led the former Oklahoma City Thunder player to give his opinion.

Flopping techniques have been under scrutiny in both the NBA and WNBA, as several fans and analysts have talked openly against it. Several shifty guards, including Clark, have been accused of getting flopping fouls in crucial situations, which changes the momentum of the game. On Threads, Thomas called out Clark for her flop and wrote:

“I’ve seen clips of this play from last night but the close up is crazy come on now Caitlin lol.”

The Fever had a blowout win over the Aces, even though A’ja Wilson was part of the roster. However, Clark couldn’t play a major part in that, as she contributed 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Aliyah Boston scored a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds and responded to her critics with a big game against Wilson.

Meanwhile, Gray scored nine points, shooting 3-8 from the field, and dished out six assists. The Fever have now won both games against the defending champions.

Caitlin Clark is the fastest player to 600 assists in WNBA history

Along with the win, Caitlin Clark also became the player with the quickest 600 assists in the league, in just 72 games. The Fever looked like they were playing per head coach Stephanie White’s offensive strategy, as the offense flew smoothly through Clark. However, her shooting is still far from her standard, as she shot 1-for-5 from deep.

The Fever celebrated Clark’s achievement on social media with the caption:

“Caitlin Clark has become the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 600 assists in only 72 games.”

Meanwhile, Kelsey Mitchell is on a mission this season, averaging 22.7 ppg, leading the team on offense. She has taken up scoring duties well, as the last time she scored less than 20 points was on June 20.

When in form and running, the Fever does look like a winning squad with championship pedigree. They will now face the Golden State Valkyries, with the season series tied 1-1.
