Kiki Iriafen was on fire as the Washington Mystics raced to a 79-62 victory over the Toronto Tempo in the WNBA, but there was a moment of concern towards the end of the game that would have had Mystics fans concerned about their star player.
Iriafen took an elbow to the face that looked nasty on TV, resulting in her having to leave the court to get some treatment. Thankfully for Iriafen, the real damage was already done on the court, where she already had 25 points by the time she walked off the court.
Mystics head coach Sydney Johnson had an update on Kiki Iriafen’s alleged injury after the game, suggesting that she might have been stung by the elbow, but appears in good spirits in the locker room.
Who Else Shone in the Mystics vs Tempo Clash?
Undoubtedly, Kiki Iriafen was the woman of the moment in this game, scoring 25 points with 14 rebounds, but others played their part too. Shakira Austin managed 17 points of her own, while Michaela Onyenwere had 15 points to add to the Mystics total.
For Tempo, Julie Allemand and Nyara Sabally were the top scorers, managing 15 and 13 points respectively, but it always seemed like the Mystics were just a step ahead, largely thanks to the dominance of Kiki Iriafen.
The Mystics will take the momentum of this victory back to Washington as they face the Portland Fire on Thursday in their next WNBA clash.
