Earlier this week, Minnesota Lynx rookie Emma Cechova suffered a devastating injury in a game against the Dallas Wings. An MRI has since confirmed that Cechova sustained a torn ACL, which will cause her to miss the rest of the season.
On social media, WNBA fans expressed their sympathy towards Cechova and the Lynx, who are also dealing with injuries to other players.
“Lynx players just can’t catch a break”
“Absolutely devastating news. I wish her a speedy recovery and I know she’ll come back stronger than ever”
“Devastating. Hopefully Lynx can sign her to a long term contract and see her back next year”
“Dorka and Naphessa we need u guys!”
“I was afraid this is what it was. Awful news. She had a great start to the season & I hate to see it end like this. Speedy recovery to Emma.”
“Sad… everyone knew once they did the replay!”
As some fans pointed out, the Lynx are awaiting the return of Napheesa Collier, who underwent ankle surgery; and Dorka Juhasz, who is dealing with a right foot sprain.
Still, the Lynx have been able to post a 2-1 record in their first three games. Leading the charge has been their star rookie Olivia Miles, who is averaging 16.3 ppg on 50.0% shooting from the field.
In addition, the veteran trio of Courtney Williams, Natasha Howard, and Kayla McBride is averaging at least 15.0 ppg apiece. For the time being, the Lynx are able to buck the injuries to a number of their players.
Lynx Rookie Olivia Miles Achieves Milestone in First Three WNBA Games
Even without the star power of Napheesa Collier, the Lynx have been able to stay afloat, thanks in large part to Olivia Miles.
The rookie, in fact, has made WNBA history by becoming the first player to post 45+ points and 20+ assists in her first three games.
Miles, the second overall pick in this year’s WNBA draft, is certainly proving her value in the early goings of her pro career.
