LOOK: Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd And Aaliyah Edwards Honor UConn Huskies With Pregame Outfits

Dallas Wings guards Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd and Connecticut Sun forward Aaliyah Edwards all made their mark on their college alma mater, the UConn Huskies. They played together from 2020 to 2024. Edwards was selected with the sixth pick in the 2024 WNBA draft. Still, Bueckers and Fudd continued their college tenures and brought the Huskies their 12th national title in 2025.

On Thursday, Bueckers and Fudd are set to return to their alma mater’s state to take on Edwards and her Sun. This is the first time Bueckers and Fudd are returning to Connecticut as WNBA teammates. All three players were captured online honoring the Huskies with their pregame outfits. Bueckers wore a Huskies varsity jacket, Fudd went with a UConn hoodie and Edwards stole the attention with her uniform turned into a dress.

Bueckers, Fudd and Edwards are three of the 17 Huskies active in the WNBA. Among the nine teams that possess UConn alumni, the Golden State Valkyries have the most on their roster with four players. Along with Edwards, center Olivia Nelson-Ododa is the other former Husky on the Connecticut Sun roster.

Current UConn Huskies guard Kayleigh Heckel looks forward to Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd’s return

In a report by staff writer Maggie Vanoni of CTPost, several current UConn Huskies players were asked about Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd returning to Connecticut as teammates. Among those asked was incoming junior Kayleigh Heckel, who is ecstatic to see them play in Connecticut again, this time as WNBA teammates. Heckel was never a teammate of Bueckers, but was with Fudd in the 2025-26 season.

“It’s really cool that we get the opportunity to see them playing Connecticut, especially with Connecticut moving to Houston. I think it’s cool that we get like one more chance to see them play here. I think it’s really cool to be able to see them on the same team again. They play really well together, (and) it shows every time they play,” Heckel was quoted as saying.

“I think it’s really cool for our team to go and watch them play. I feel like you can always take something from seeing players like that,” she continued.
