When the Indiana Fever drafted South Carolina guard Raven Johnson at no. 10 in this year’s WNBA draft, questions arose about her dynamic with Caitlin Clark. After all, the two were involved in a memorable March Madness encounter three years ago when the then-Iowa star waved off and opted not to defend Johnson, as if to show little regard for her perimeter shooting.

But Aliyah Boston, who teamed with Johnson in South Carolina, doesn’t buy into all the talk that the two guards will have problems. Speaking on her “Post Moves” podcast this week, the Fever center claimed that fans put too much stock into college rivalries supposedly making their way to the pro ranks and affecting how players jell with one another.

“It’s so funny, the fans always have more beef than the players actually do…I think it’s going to be fine. Everyone has their thoughts, but when you come into the gym and you’re ready to hoop, that’s literally all it is…it literally doesn’t matter.”

In a way, Aliyah Boston bridges the gap between Caitlin Clark (her teammate in Indiana over the past three years) and Raven Johnson (with whom she won a national title in 2022).

While the narrative surrounding Clark and Johnson could easily blow up on social media, the chemistry and the outcomes achieved by these two guards on the court will be all that matters.

Raven Johnson Praises Aliyah Boston’s Leadership After Getting Selected by Fever in 2026 WNBA draft

For her part, Raven Johnson holds Aliyah Boston in high regard. After getting selected by the Fever in this past Monday’s draft, Johnson spoke highly of Boston’s leadership.

“She taught me what pro habits were…Her leadership goes a long way. There’s no way you don’t want to play with somebody like that.”

Now, Johnson and Boston will get a chance to run things back as they reunite on the Fever lineup.
