Former NBA star Lou Williams extended an offer to Angel Reese after the Chicago Sky traded the forward to the Atlanta Dream on Sunday. Reese was moved in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 first-round pick and second-round pick swap rights for 2028.
Reese reacted to the trade on X, sharing photographs of herself wearing a Dream jersey and wrote:
“An Angel’s dream, ATL what up?”
Reese’s message received a reaction from Lou Williams, who offered to buy the star a drink.
“LP on me,” Williams wrote.
One fan interjected, asking Williams to “stay away” from Reese. The former NBA guard replied, asking the fan to stay out of “Atlanta business.”
“Boy ya profile say Chicago. Stay outta Atl business. And my offer is strictly ATL love for the ones in the back,” Williams wrote.
Another fan commented, complimenting Williams’ “game.” He replied, clearing up his intention with the invitation to Reese.
“I peep ya game Lou,” the fan wrote.
“Na, this ain’t that,” Williams replied.
Lou Williams was in the NBA for 17 seasons, playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks, Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. He played 1,123 games, averaging 13.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, shooting 41.9%, including 35.1% from 3-point range.
How much money will Angel Reese make after the trade to the Atlanta Dream?
Angel Reese’s move to the Atlanta Dream will have major financial implications for both teams. For the Chicago Sky, they can now avoid paying Angel the higher salary that they would’ve had to in light of the new CBA agreement.
Reese, who was the seventh pick in 2024, signed a four-year, $324,383 deal. After adjusting her salary to the new CBA, reports indicate that she is expected to earn close to $350,000 next season.
Furthermore, if Reese earns an All-WNBA selection this season, she will be eligible to sign a max contract extension with the Dream next summer. This is also a beneficial move from a sporting sense since the Dream are in a better position to win.
Reese and the Sky finished last season with the worst record in the league at 10-34. Meanwhile, the Dream grabbed the third seed in the league with a 30-14 record.
