The UCLA Bruins’ Lauren Betts sparked some buzz among fans ahead of the 2026 WNBA Draft after saying that she would love to play for the Minnesota Lynx.
The Ball Don’t Lie account shared a video on X that shows Betts going around and signing autographs for fans. During the interaction, a fan told Betts that they would love her if she went to the Lynx.
“I’d love that,” Betts responded.
Betts got off to a slow start for the Bruins this season, but has found her footing lately, helping lead the team to the final of the NCAA Tournament. She has played 36 games, averaging 17.2 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, shooting 58.2%.
Betts has also been productive on the defensive end, recording 1.1 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. She put up 16 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks to help the Bruins take a 51-44 win against the Longhorns in the Final Four.
If a player of Betts’ caliber were to join Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx this summer, it could significantly impact the league’s landscape. The Lynx are already one of the best teams in the league.
WNBA Mock Drafts have Lauren Betts going to the Washington Mystics
According to multiple mocks for the upcoming WNBA draft, including ESPN’s, Lauren Betts is largely predicted to be picked No. 4 by the Washington Mystics. This could change if the Lynx take an interest in Betts, as they hold the No. 2 pick in this year’s draft.
Experts predict that Minnesota would be more likely to take a chance on international prospect Awa Fam or TCU’s Olivia Miles. Betts, meanwhile, could join Sonia Citron, Kiki Iriafen and Georgia Amoore in Washington.
However, these are still just projections and could change before the NCAA Tournament wraps up. Betts will return to the court on Sunday to face the South Carolina Gamecocks for the national championship.
