‘Lack of Emotional Control?’: Jason Whitlock Doesn’t Mince Words While Reacting to Caitlin Clark’s ‘Crash Out’ Against Refs

Caitlin Clark continues to draw attention in the WNBA in another big year. The star has received plenty of attention for her dust-ups against players in the past. However, she has grabbed headlines in recent weeks by taking shots at referees and pushing the league to upgrade its on-court rules enforcement process.

The outspoken statements have stirred the pot and received a mixed reaction from fans and analysts. Some critics say Clark shouldn’t publicly criticize officials, while others have cheered her on. In a Thursday post on X, the often outspoken Jason Whitlock responded to a positive assessment of Clark’s statement, where she called out the “ridiculous” officiating.

“‘A very good sign’ of what exactly?” Whitlock responded. “A lack of emotional control? Channeling her inner Karmelo Anthony?”

By referencing Karmelo Anthony, who went viral for being charged with the murder of his alleged bully, Whitlock was saying that Clark was bullied. She was doing her part to take on the bully in her own way through public statements and yelling at the referee to the referee’s face.

Robin Lundberg, a WNBA and Indiana Fever writer/editor, made the original statement.

“I thought her crashout on the ref was a very good sign,” he posted. “Showed she wasn’t hurt and is getting back to competitiveness. She’s gotta get her legs and burst all the way back and I think she’s seeing ghosts in her landing space a bit and needs to shake that.”

Clark will hope to wring out a win on Friday as the Indiana Fever face the Seattle Storm. Fans can only wait to see if she will take renewed shots at the referees.

    Caitlin Clark’s Statement About Referees

Clark’s comments against the referees were made after Wednesday’s contest against the Golden State Valkyries, in which Clark finished with 13 points. According to a Thursday Fox News report, Clark claimed to be “kneed” by an opponent after the game and suffered a contusion, also known as a bruise.

“I got kneed right in the quad, that hurts, the ref can’t miss that,” Clark said. “And then I have to play with a contusion in my leg for the rest of the game. Ridiculous, you can’t miss calls like that.”

Clark offered one more blunt assessment.

“You can’t knee me in the leg and knock me over,” she added.

The Fever will not face the Valkyries again in the regular season.
